How is the ECDL course delivered?

The course is  delivered as self study option with some face-to-face interaction combining the two, enabling it to be adapted to fit into the Teachers’ and Support Staff working timetable.

How many Ealing staff have undertaken the course?

To date more than one hundred teachers and support staff have enrolled on the course with a pass rate of over eighty per cent.

Can I do the course in my own time?

Participants will be able to undertake the course in any order and at their own speed.  Participants can take up to 3 years to complete the course.

What are the costs?

Ealing staff can attend support sessions at Ealing CLC free of charge to receive support and guidance from one of the ECDL tutors.  Schools are asked to pay for the online exams and pre-tests only at a cost of £100 for seven exams and the ECDL log book. This charge includes ten free pre-tests.

What is the assessment procedure?

Each of the seven modules will be examined using an on-line testing system at Ealing CLC, Pre-Test Modules are available to take online also so that staff can ensure they are ready for the end of module tests although the pre-tests can be taken anywhere with an internet connection thereby making the course more accessible to those with limited time.

How will the course help me in school?

The seven modules of the qualification are written with a classroom focus that provides teachers, teaching assistants and anyone working in schools with the core ICT skills based upon developing resources for the classroom. Creating lesson plans using a word processor, managing classroom data using a spreadsheet and searching the Internet for classroom resources are just a few of the very practical skills that can be acquired.

Who accredits the course, is it a recognised qualification?

The ECDL for Educators course is a tailored version of the established ECDL qualification, recognised by employers in the business world as an illustration of employee competence in computing.  The implementation of ECDL in the UK is managed by the British Computer Society and Ealing CLC is an accredited British Computer Society ECDL Centre.
